Best prong collar!
I am in love with this collar and I only have had it for a day. I have a Pit Bull mix service dog in training and I want to train him to walk with a collar instead of his Halti. Best freaking collar. I'm not one for prong collars but this one doesn't even look like one. It totally suits him and his gear and he already has stopped pulling. I would highly recommend this for someone who wants a prong collar but doesn't know where to start. Super gentle too

    The Starmark training collar is like any other training tool: it must be used properly. I like this one because it does not having metal prongs which are more of any overkill when it comes to proper training methods plus they tend to be more difficult to put on and take off and hair especially thick coated or long hair tends to catch in the prongs. This StarMark collar is made of hard plastic and is very sturdy. The links do opening up so you can add or remove links or need be to take it off and on the dog. Thankfully you do not have to do the latter to actually put in your dog because it comes with quick release metal snap which makes it much easier to use. In the package also included is a safety loop which you can slip over dogs head and attach to the leash. The links are not that easy to open unless you know the proper procedure. Check out the video on it to learn how to do it quickly and with minimal effort. A free online training guide is provided that you can download for proper use of this particular collar. The reason I only give this collar a four is that the large is not quite big enough for the size of our dogs. Therefore I needed to add extra links. However upon investigating the price of the links alone, they were more than the price I paid for the collar. So instead I ended up buying a 2nd collar instead and will use some of the links from it instead. If I buy a 3rd collar ( maybe as spare or to give as gift), then I can still used the 2nd collar for extra links for the 3rd if need be. Would have been better if there had been more size options than just available tahn just Small 15″ and Large 21″

    Large item description says 20.3 x 7.6 x 27.9 centimeters. After carefully measuring our little dog's neck I ordered the large collar based on the sizing provided. But instead of receiving a 10 inch collar (27.9 cm) we received a 21 inch collar. (Written on the packaging.) The sizing should be in inches, not centimeters. Very confusing. 鶹 website wouldn't let me do a return for this collar, but I finally spoke with someone in 鶹 Customer Service and he was helpful. They are going to issue a refund and escalate to correct the item description. We reordered a small collar, removed a few links and it works great! (just one training session - Don Sullivan method - and our little guy, a 4.5 year old min-pin is doing awesome. We would have gone with the Don Sullivan collar again, but it wasn't available. This is a similar pinch type of collar and we are pleased with it. We were worried about some saying it broke easily but so far this doesn't appear to be brittle plastic.) Check the pic of the packaging, the writing in the lower right side tells you the size in inches.
    We would recommend this collar, but check the sizing carefully.

    I was hesitant to buy one of these because I don't want to hurt my dog. I'd never buy a metal spike collar but this seemed somewhat reasonable and my sister's huge dog has one and he walks like a dream so we got one for our dog. It's definitely helped our dog pull less but not TOTALLY 100%. He is WAY more manageable to walk though and the good thing about him still pulling a little sometimes is that it probably doesn't hurt, I figure...

    I have used this collar on at least 20 dogs. Many of these dogs had no obedience, bad manners, and behavior issues that required training. The most common problem among the many has been pulling on the leash. This collar will do just what the dog needs in order to begin to end leash pulling and that is to be uncomfortable when it is pulling on the leash. Harnesses, harness leashes, "gentle leaders" and the like are merely gimmicks being marketed to those with good intentions, but lacking in knowledge about leash pulling and other unwanted behavior as well as dog obedience training. This collar is inexpensive, made well from high-quality materials and easy to use if the recommended sizing and fitting instructions are followed. This collar should always be used with the included nylon backup slip collar or some other type of collar. I use a snap-around collar for a backup.
    ALWAYS USE A BACKUP COLLAR! Pawmark sells a leash extension on 鶹 with two snap hooks that works well to attach the leash to a primary and backup collar. This collar is effective as a general training collar for most dogs. I highly recommend trying this collar before spending a lot more money on a conventional metal pinch collar. The size of the collar is adjusted by adding or removing links. This can be a little tricky at first. However, there are videos that demonstrate how to do this properly. After a couple of tries, it is not hard at all. If you are unfamilar with pinch collars or have been exposed to the negative propaganda about them from the Dark Side, you should know that these collars are not painful nor do they injure the dog in any way if used properly. But, NEVER LEAVE THIS COLLAR OR A PRONG COLLAR ON A DOG FOR DAYS!! This is really a bad idea. I have read some of the less than positive reviews concerning this collar. Some of them are irrelevant as they refer to a different collar - with pictures included. Others are in the category of those unique situations such as dogs with very long coat hair, and dominant or aggressive dogs. This collar is probably not going to be as effective as a prong collar for specific special cases. The collar is a great first collar to use for most dogs. However, like other collars and tools might not be effective for some dogs compared to a prong collar. I use a prong collar for foundational obedience work and then switch to this collar when moving the dog to an electronic training collar. The small collar size is suitable from my experience for dogs up to 50 pounds or for dogs with small necks. If it is the case that you have to use less than six links for a dog with the large size collar, I recommend using a small size and adding links. You do have to take some time to read and follow the instructions and watch the videos on how to size and use the collar - especially adding or removing links.
